Raptors!

New England is blessed with a variety of year-round and migratory birds of prey. The diverse ecology of the northern Atlantic coast provides excellent hunting grounds, and several species have successfully adapted to urban environments. From kestrels to ospreys to eagles, raptors occupy every level of the food chain above “mouse.”

One note: the absence of owls is not by choice. I have yet to photograph an owl in the wild, despite multiple species being present in my immediate neighborhood. I’ve identified barred, eastern screech, and great horned by call, but they’ve remained elusive…
